Moreno Valley
Moreno Valley, incorporated in 1984, merged the communities of Moreno, Sunnymead and Edgemont, is about 51 square miles in the western portion of Riverside County. The name Moreno, meaning brown, was established in 1891, honoring Frank E. Brown, the catalyst of the Moreno-Alessandro water development plan. It is the second largest city in Riverside County with 38 parks, March Air Force Base, the county hospital, educational facilities, abundant retail centers, industrial developments, social and cultural activities. The “M” lit on the Box Springs Mountain represents Moreno Valley proudly changing color for holidays and special events. There are many neighborhoods in Moreno Valley including two large master planned communities of Sunnymead Ranch on the north side and Moreno Valley Ranch on the south side of the city. Both have large private lakes, sport courts, playgrounds, and clubhouses. Sunnymead Ranch prides itself on its serene atmosphere and natural surroundings, often you will see the wild burros roaming the neighborhoods here.
